Animated short film ‘Of All The Things’ sets international Premiere

The Royal Television Society Award-nominated film Of All The Things, which sheds light on Hoarding Disorder, is set to premiere internationally at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival in the United States. Announced by studio Kino Bino.

Of All The Things explores a mother-daughter relationship throughout the hardships and complexity when living with Hoarding disorder. The film will screen in Savannah Film Festivals shorts spotlight ‘Dearest Daughter’ strand.

Directed by Steff Lee, the animated short film has been selected to screen at the 28th edition of the festival, alongside Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet, Guillmerno del Toro’s Frankenstein, and Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly.

The film has inspiration driven from Steff Lee’s own lived experience and her goal is as quoted: “My mission with the film was always clear: to look past the clutter and focus on the people. It’s a story about families who want to be understood. Having its international premiere in Savannah is an incredible opportunity to add to the global conversation on hoarding. My greatest hope is that it connects with families who see a piece of their own story on screen and feel emboldened to seek support.”

Presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Savannah Film festival celebrates the work of internationally emerging and established filmmakers. More than 75,000 people will attend the eight day event, which are all taking place in theatres across the historic city of Savannah, Georgia.

Six years in the making and now, finally internationally debuting in Savannah marks the start of a global film festival run for the film. In the UK, Of All The Things has been screened at the BAFTA- and BIFA- qualifying Bolton international Film Festival, Bournemouth International Film Festival, and the Women Over 50 Film Festival.

The film had previously premiered in May at the Phoenix Cinema during Hoarding Awareness week in Leicester, England. And will screen at yet another BAFTA- and BIFA- qualifying festival at Aesthetica, York, England in November. And yet again in the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival in Glasgow, Scotland.

The film had received their support and funding from a crowdfunding campaign as well as BFI NETWORK, the National Lottery, Holistic Hoarding, Accent Housing, WBR Group, DMU Engagement, The BICSc, Ford Fine Art, Ideal Services Group, Amplius, Cadent GAs, Northern Gas Networks, Jigsaw Homes, Peabody and Orbit Group.

The start of the global festival marks a key milestone for Of All The Things and the mission of the filmmakers to raise wider awareness of Hoarding and those affected. The film has already been winning praises by sparking conversation and shifting perceptions around hoarding disorders in ways that facts cannot do alone.

BAFTA Award-nominated Tomlinson said: “After six years of bringing this film to life, it’s incredible to see it premiere internationally. The majority female crew and we are so proud of the film we made.” She is most known for her work on Bob The Builder, and Pingu.

Andrew Gregory, health editor of The Guardian who executively produced the film said: “Hoarding disorder affects millions of people but is rarely discussed and often misunderstood. We hope the film will move minds and raise awareness globally so we are ecstatic and extremely grateful that it will begin its international journey at one of the largest film festivals in the world.”
