At the minute I’ve been writing a short film called “Slash Lane” so this video actually shows me writing it and I explain every single process I go through!😂 this was so exciting for me to do mainly because people ask me so many film-related questions and for this question in general it would be nice to showcase my process just in case someone needs help to start or inspire someone too. Finding the perfect location:

There were 5 locations I needed, A Big space for me to create a fort, a forest, a church, a house and open grassy space.

Everything actually was super easy to find, Many places like St Nicholas church, 369 Film studios, My home ect were super easy to contact and get but what was very hard was a forest beautiful enough and a somewhere that was privately owned so we were able to go in and out without any problems. Luckily we we're able to find that very fast. The forest we used were privatley owned by an amazing person within charnwood who allowed us to do any kind of filming and use any props we require as long as we took care of his garden. of course, after a few meetings we accepted. this area also had a cliff edge, open grassy field and many many areas we could film in, we set 90% of the film here.

Writing process:

During the time taken to finish Spider-Man i really wanted to take my mind off the project and dive into a new world. During this time of my life I was having a awful time in my personal life and wanted to write something very close to my heart. About a father and son. It took me about 20 drafts to really get to me to the point of where I wanted to tell anyone about it. It took me about 5 months to finish the drafts.

I really wanted to push myself as a director and take everything i have learnt from Spider-Man and that was pretty much doing the complete opposite, No sets, Natural light, and kids as the main talent.

So this happened today. We were selected for two categories and have been nominated for both! so so proud.

So a few days ago I took a trip to London to edit the last few scenes of PhanTim. At one point in the film, the film takes a turn and going into a game. Within this game we needed to create our own world and man our own cameras WITHIN the game! AND control all the characters using VR. It was genuinely the most amazing thing I’ve ever witnessed and I genuinely can’t believe technology has come this far that we can literally do this through our bedrooms.

We should make a thread for Quarantine films!? Now weve got a 2 week lockdown! Nows time to make one! :D
