The Studio

The focal point of the studio is a 10m wide curved LED video wall, this 4k display will showcase your content to the virtual audience. We have built an 11m x 3m stage in front of the video wall, this gives us the flexibility to provide a number of layouts depending on your requirements.

Three HD cameras have been installed so that the presenters on stage can be clearly seen by the audience at home. An L-Acoustics PA system has also been installed allowing presenters to hear questions directed to them by the virtual audience.

The overhead lighting rig ensures that the presenters are illuminated when on stage. We also have the option to add colour and movement to these fixtures for award ceremonies and festivals etc.

A 98″ screen sits opposite the stage and allows presenters to see the content on the screen behind them, timer, notes etc, just as you would expect at a live event.

Our tech team are set up at the side of the studio and will mix the best camera angles, powerpoint and video content and then stream this feed out to your audience.

Customising your Profile

This guide will explain how you can change your profile picture, your job role or anything else about you.

Accessing your Profile

There are two ways to access your profile:

1. The first way is to click the circular image in the top right of the navigation and then click 'Profile' from the dropdown.
2. The second way, when you're new to the platform is to click the box to the right of the main feed and follow the checkbox to familiarise yourself with the platform.

Editing your Profile

When you are on your profile page, click the 'Edit Profile' button to make changes.

Profile Picture

You can click 'Upload' or drag and drop an image over the existing image to set a profile picture.

Username

Keep your username as your name or some variation of your name (i.e. 'your_name') so that others can know who they are addressing.

Title

For 'Title' enter your main job role, such as 'Editor', 'Camera Operator / Cinematographer' or 'Aspiring Filmmaker'. This makes your role easily searchable within the platform. Being vague may hinder your chances of being found on Film Leicester.

About You

Let others know more about you, what you do, what you enjoy, your successes and ambitions. Finding like-minded people is core to Film Leicester, so take some time to let others know more about you. Use this section to link to your 'Service Listing' post.

Banner

Just like your profile picture, you can upload a banner image to be displayed on your profile. Choose a behind the scenes image or a screenshot from your latest work. Get creative!

Adding Social Profiles

Clicking on the 'Social Media' tab when on the 'Edit Profile' screen will allow you to add your website link and social handles to your profile. These will appear on the bottom right of your Profile's header.

Remember to save your changes!

Signing Up

1. Request Access

As we are currently open for BETA sign ups at this stage, you can request an invite by filling out the form featured in the sidebar of the site.

2. Check your email for a Link

You should receive an email inviting you to Film Leicester within 72 Hours. When you open the email follow the instructions which will take you to a screen where you can set a password for your account. If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder or try filling the form out again.

What is Early BETA Access?

Film Leicester is up and running, but is still not 100% where we'd like it to be. Early BETA testers have been encouraged to join to test out Film Leicester to find any bugs or problems before we officially launch. Early access gives you the opportunity to help us test out the platform whilst helping to build our community.

How do I get access to Film Leicester?

Currently, we only accept early registration through desktop browsers to give us the best opportunity to troubleshoot our platform on the devices you'd use the most. Visit our website through a desktop browser and you should see an option to request access in the sidebar.

Adding your post to a group

If you've subscribed to a group, the chances are you may want to post directly to it.

To do this, you simply need to select the dropdown from the bottom left hand corner below your message and choose the group you want to post to.

What is Film Leicester about?

Film Leicester’s philosophy is that it’s better to work together than on your own. Filmmaking is a collaborative process which can often require many people to participate in a production.

Our platform is here to enable Leicestershire’s filmmakers and talent to support and collaborate with one another so that Leicester can be known for producing some of the best independent films in the world.

The members in the community have understood that by leaving their ego at the door, they have allowed more opportunities for the group to develop, whatever their skill level may be. This means that the support offered to those starting out their careers is as valued as those who’ve been around in the industry for years.
